FOLIA SINFONIA

About Folia Sinfonia

Founded in January 2024, Folia Sinfonia is an early music ensemble based in Quebec City, QC. Folia Sinfonia not only provides an opportunity for musicians to get together and play early music, but also offers performaces to a wide audience. The idea of "Folia Sinfonia" is derived from a series of animation of Disney - Silly Symphony. The animation is full of “Creativity”, which is essential for us. "Folia" literally means madness/folly, but it also means a theme of music during the 17th century, which is the baroque period. Lully, Vivaldi, Corelli and other composers, they all have their own work based on the tune of "Folia".Folia Sinfonia was founded by Kevin Wun Pong Yeung with the collaboration of Holly Gallan. Both Kevin and Holly are passionate about early music. Kevin plays recorders and keyboards, and Holly plays violin. They both came up an idea of forming a baroque ensemble.
